Objectives of the Department
The aim of the Sociology Department is to train sociologists who have the capability to analyze the
social processes with competence, who can understand the social reflections of the transformations
that take place on a global scale and who are familiar with the society that they live in.
The recent developments we are witnessing throughout the world have shown us that we need the
scientific discipline of sociology more than ever as it has the competence to analyze socio-historical
transformations and bring solutions to social problems.
Program Duration
The undergraduate program of Sociology includes eight semesters of education and training.
Education in this program is carried out face-to-face. The language of the program is English.
Job Opportunities
Our graduates will have the qualified formation to find jobs in diverse fields like academia and
consultancy with their capabilities for critical thinking and their familiarity with the society they live
in.
Our graduates can find jobs in public offices as Sociology instructors, work as Philosophy teachers
provided that they get the necessary pedagogic formation, work as Family Consultants in public and
private jobs provided that they receive the ceriticate of Family Consultancy or acquire different
occupational positions in private firms in the departments of Public Relations, Consultancy and
Human Resources. In addition, they can become instructors in private educational institutions in
courses that are related to their fields or work as guidance counselors in these same institutions.
Besides these, our graduates can pursue an academic career and become distinct academics upon
their completion of Masters and Doctorate programs in different branches of social sciences
including Sociology.
