English Preparatory Class
(1) Students who have gained the right to register for programs taught in foreign languages at the Vocational School or Faculties are required to take an English proficiency exam. Those who succeed or who score at a level deemed sufficient by the Vocational School in an international foreign language exam are directly registered in the relevant program.
(2) Students who are considered unsuccessful must register for a one-year English preparatory class. Those who succeed in the proficiency exam at the end of the first semester or score at a level deemed sufficient by the Vocational School in an international foreign language exam will be eligible to continue their studies in the program they were placed in during the second semester. Students who enroll in the English preparatory class and fail by the end of the year will continue in the English preparatory class in the second year. The time spent in the preparatory class during the first year and any additional time required to complete the preparatory education will be counted as part of the total study period.
(3) Students who have gained the right to register for programs taught in Turkish at the Vocational School and Faculties may, if they wish, continue for one year in the English preparatory class. If the student prefers, they may attend the courses of the program they are placed in during the second semester. A fee for the English preparatory class will be charged to these students. The one-year period spent in the English preparatory class is not counted as part of the study period according to the regulations published in the Official Gazette on December 4, 2008, No. 27074, regarding Foreign Language Teaching and Guidelines for Teaching in a Foreign Language at Higher Education Institutions. Students who voluntarily continue in the English preparatory class will proceed to the program they have gained the right to register for at the end of the year. Those students who are successful in the English preparatory class will be awarded an English proficiency certificate.
