Donation Policy Principles
Donation Policy Principles
• Donors must sign the “Donation Publication Form.”
• For periodicals to be accepted as donations, the beginning or continuation of the collection must exist in the library.
• Publications such as newspaper promotions or brochures are not accepted.
• Publications that are physically damaged, have missing or torn pages, or contain handwriting and markings are not accepted.
• Lecture notes, photocopied publications, and primary or secondary school textbooks are not accepted.
• Publications containing political or similar propaganda that may influence people are not accepted as donations.
• In the case of duplicate copies, the right to donate these to other institutions belongs to the Department of Library and Documentation.
• Donors, whether individuals or institutions, cannot claim any rights or make any requests regarding their donations.
• Donated materials cannot be requested to be stored in a separate section or on the same shelf. If the donated collection is large in volume, a separate collection may be created with the approval of the Rectorate.
• A letter of appreciation is sent to donors on behalf of the university.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
• This service allows borrowing printed books that are not available in the Information Resources collection from domestic libraries we collaborate with, according to the rules set by the lending institution.
• Users may request books or articles not found in the collection by sending an email to kutuphane@topkapi.edu.tr. To ensure timely and accurate processing, bibliographic information must be provided completely.
• Only Istanbul Topkapı University academic staff can benefit from the ILL service.
• The status of materials requested via KİTS (Interlibrary Loan System) is first checked within the library’s own collection.
• The supply period for your requests varies between 2–7 business days depending on the providing institution.
• The loan period of books provided through KİTS varies between 15–30 days depending on the provider library.
• The number of possible renewals is also determined according to the policies of the lending institution.
• CD-ROMs, DVDs, reference sources (encyclopedias, dictionaries, theses), special collections, reserve collections, and periodicals cannot be borrowed through ILL.
• For all services within the ILL scope, you can obtain detailed information via the institutional email address kutuphane@topkapi.edu.tr.
• Up to 3 books can be requested at one time.
• In the event of loss or damage to the borrowed material, the requesting academic staff member assumes full responsibility.
• The requesting institution must return the borrowed material to the library before the due date.
• Requested books are sent via courier. Books that must be returned to Topkapı University should also be sent via courier. All shipping costs are covered by the requesting library.
• Borrowed publications may be recalled before the due date if necessary.
