We set out to provide comprehensive education to students interested in intercultural communication.
Our department aims to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills in translation and interpretation, which are fundamental elements of effective communication in the globalized world. Our goal is to prepare students for successful careers by enhancing their language abilities, fostering cultural understanding, and enabling specialization in various fields.
Program Overview:
The English Translation and Interpretation Program aims to impart both theoretical and practical skills to students. Our program includes courses that enable students to understand written and oral translation processes, apply acquired competencies effectively, and communicate in a cultural context.
Highlighted Features of the Department:
Language Proficiency: Our program focuses on students gaining proficiency in at least two languages. Various courses are offered to enhance grammar, vocabulary, writing, and speaking skills in both source and target languages. Additionally, an opportunity to learn a second foreign language (Spanish, German, etc.) is available as an elective.
Translation Techniques: Students acquire the necessary technical skills to understand and apply translation processes. Through courses covering topics such as text analysis, translation strategies, terminology management, and translation software, students develop the ability to produce quality and fluent translations.
Oral Interpretation Skills: Our program emphasizes different types of oral interpretation, including consecutive, simultaneous, and conference interpretation. Students develop interpreter skills using authentic materials, gaining essential skills such as note-taking, quick thinking, and fluent communication.
Cultural Awareness: Understanding and considering cultural differences during the translation process is crucial. Our department offers culture courses to provide students with an in-depth understanding of the language, history, literature, and traditions of different cultures.
Specialization in Fields: Students have the opportunity to specialize in various areas of interest. Through specialization courses offered in different fields such as law, medicine, technology, literature, and social sciences, students can specialize in these fields and shape their future careers.
Use of Technology: Our program focuses on technological tools and platforms used in written and oral translation. By providing practical experience in the use of translation memory, terminology databases, and other translation software, students acquire skills to increase productivity and improve quality.

Graduates of this program have the opportunity to pursue careers as translators and interpreters in various sectors such as international organizations, companies, public institutions, media, tourism, and healthcare. Additionally, they can pursue an academic career by continuing their education in postgraduate programs (Master’s and PhD) in translation and interpretation, or related fields such as culture and communication. They can also pursue a career in teaching English as a second language.
